JOINING MENDIP GLIDING CLUB

You can join Mendip Gliding Club (MGC) by completing an online application form.

Please take some time to look around this website, as it contains valuable information for those considering joining Mendip Gliding Club,

in particular the “Useful Documents” below, and the other pages under “About MGC” and “Get Started”.

To fly a glider you MUST be suitably fit and able. See [ https://members.gliding.co.uk/laws-rules/bga-medical-requirements/ ] as amended.

Please note that BEFORE you can fly solo, you must obtain and upload to your “Mojo” Membership account the relevant medical declaration.

For most pilots this involves going through the CAA Pilot Medical Declaration (PMD) process.

See https://www.caa.co.uk/commercial-industry/pilot-licences/medical/caa-medical-record-system-cellma/medical-records-system-applicant-guide-cellma/

This typically references your driving licence as evidence of medical fitness.

If you are a Junior and/or do not have a full driving licence, you can still use the PMD process.

Alternatively you can complete the BGA medical form and get your GP to endorse it.

Special rules apply to instructors.

Existing (solo) MGC club members will be asked at periodic intervals to confirm the accuracy of their medical status and will be notified or reminded to obtain the necessary documents. Special rules apply to instructors. If you are worried about the costs, please speak to us about payment options.

Please contact the MGC Membership Secretary: Rob Grady for further details of membership.
